Zoom App Guide
Step‑by‑step instructions for adding, using, and removing the Lateral EMDR Zoom App.
1. Create an account & purchase a subscription
- Visit lateralemdr.com and create an account.
- Purchase a therapist subscription and enter the Zoom account email you use for sessions. Subscriptions are tied to that email to validate seats inside the Zoom app.
2. Install Lateral EMDR in the Zoom App Marketplace
- Open the Zoom desktop app or web portal and sign in with the Zoom account you used when purchasing the subscription.
- Open the Zoom App Marketplace: Apps → Explore (or visit marketplace.zoom.us).
- Search for “Lateral EMDR” and click Install. Approve any requested permissions.
- After install, open the Lateral app icon in your Zoom toolbar to authorize and sign in. The app will validate your Zoom email against your subscription.
3. Inviting a client (one-tap)
- Open the Lateral app inside an active Zoom meeting (click the app icon in the Zoom toolbar).
- Click Ask client to open app. Your client will receive a Zoom-side invitation to open the Lateral client view.
- The client taps the invitation and the client view opens; no account or download is required for clients.
- Therapist controls (start, stop, speed, presets) are available only to the therapist role in the app.
4. Running a session
- Choose a preset or configure speed, audio, and motion settings from the therapist dashboard.
- Click Start. Clients render visuals and audio locally using the shared start time—no audio streaming required.
- To stop the set early click Stop. All client views will deterministically stop.
6. Removing / Uninstalling the app
- To remove the app from your Zoom account open the Zoom App Marketplace, go to Manage → Installed Apps, find Lateral and choose Uninstall.
- To fully delete your Lateral account and data: sign into lateralemdr.com → Dashboard → Account → Delete Account. This will remove profile and license metadata from our database and cancel subscriptions through Stripe as requested.
7. Troubleshooting
- If a client cannot open the invite: ensure the client is on the latest Zoom app and taps the Lateral invite inside Zoom (not an external link).
- If subscription validation fails: check that the therapist signed in with the same email used for purchase; visit lateralemdr.com/dashboard to confirm license state.
- If audio is not heard: clients may need to unmute audio in the Lateral client view or verify local device output settings.
- To restart the Lateral EMDR app inside Zoom: open the Zoom Apps panel, find Lateral EMDR under Recently opened, and choose Close to terminate that app instance, then re-open it.
- To quickly close multiple apps: use the Zoom Apps panel's Close All option to shut all open Zoom apps, then re-open only the Lateral EMDR app.
