Built by a therapist.
Engineered by her husband.

Lateral started when Tena got tired of paying for a dedicated EMDR platform that sounded worse, connected worse, and wasn't designed for the rest of her practice. Zoom was just better — she needed a way to bring EMDR into it.

Tena and Collin Thomas

Tena & Collin Thomas

I'm Tena — a licensed therapist in Arizona running Sunridge Counseling. This is my husband Collin, who runs Rinsesoft. He built Lateral to solve a real problem I had in my practice, and we think it can help a lot of other therapists do the same.

I've been using Zoom for telehealth since I started my practice. It's solid — good video and audio, waiting rooms, screen sharing, and my clients already know how to use it. When I started doing EMDR, I signed up for a dedicated EMDR platform. It's $25 a month, and I ended up using it for my whole caseload, not just EMDR sessions, because that's just how scheduling works. But it felt awkward routing non-EMDR clients through a platform built only for EMDR.

The bigger problem was the platform itself. The connection dropped regularly — no way to tell whose end was bad. But the audio was the worst. It didn't cancel background noise. It amplified it. Clients could hear our ice maker from across the house. Through walls. Zoom handles all of that better, and it's where we already were.

So I asked my husband: what if we just added bilateral stimulation directly to Zoom? Run everything from one platform, one login. Clients in my virtual waiting room like they'd wait outside my office. Move between sessions without sending new links or switching tabs. Actually have reliable audio.

Collin built Lateral. I use it every day. Every update and feature comes from what I actually need in my practice, not theory.

If you're already on Zoom and you just need bilateral stimulation that actually works — Lateral is built for you.
